Established in 1971, The Coe Review was created to publish fiction and poetry from Coe College students and has since expanded to accept work from writers and poets across the world. The inspiration for this magazine comes from Coe College’s close proximity to the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, as well as Coe graduate and distinguished poet Paul Engle.
The Coe Review is entirely produced by undergraduate students. Under our advisor, we read submissions during the semester, vote on our top pieces, and put the magazine together. Every semester ends with a publication release on Coe’s campus to celebrate a great new issue and enjoy some coffee and snacks!
Over the past several years, we have grown, and with our most recent poetry issue, we had eight regular manuscript readers and nine editors! Our staff is pretty fantastic.
